Castle Creek is a short little gem. Sweet boulder gardens requiring technical moves. Keep a heads up for wood. 1/2 warmup leading into a river wide damn which can be boofed left of center. Next comes a heads up, techical, blind cornering section through large boulder fields. Home free after you pass under the highway.
Difficulty Infomration: - 1000 to 2000 cfs = IV+ - >2000 cfs = V-

| | Put-In Take Highway 82 Roundabout on the west side of Aspen and taking the Castle Creek RD exit. Go 1 mile to Music School RD and launch from the first parking lot at the school. | | | Below the bridge Class III The description claims you are home free after the bridge, however you absolutely must keep heads up for river wide logs. There are almost always two or three logs that must be portaged, and they often sneak up on people that have zoned out after the upper meat.
Enjoy! | | | It's just one long boulder garden rapid Class IV+ At medium-lowish flows on Castle Creek and the Roaring Fork, I found Castle Creek to be much more intimidating than the RF, mainly because the boulders were bigger thus making the whole run very blind. | | | Take-Out Turn north off Highway 82 on to Cemetery Road and drive down the hill to Slaughterhouse Bridge. |
