The Oyacachi is a fun run at any level, but especially if the water's up. This valley can experience slightly different weather patterns than the Quijos, so it can be a good run when other things are too high. The Oyacachi is considered a IV+ at low water and V at high water.

It starts off with a bang. Be ready for some fast, powerful, but surprisingly shallow water right after the put-in. It's an odd experience to be caught in a strong hole and be bumping your head when you turn over. There are no required portages, but you'll want to be comfortable boat scouting Class IV. Many of the rapids don't appear scout-worthy until you're in them, so planning on getting out to look at the hard ones isn't very feasible. If the first 1/2 mile or so is too challenging, take out and walk back to the put-in. It doesn't get much harder than this, but the road leaves the river at the put-in and you'll be on your own.
