The Golden Community Rodeo will embark on its 6th annual whitewater kayak rodeo series in the summer of 2008.

·    Events held at Clear Creek Whitewater Park in down town Golden at 5:30 p.m

·    Events are every Wednesday: May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18

·    Open to all paddlers of all skill levels

·    Categories include Sport, Intermediate, and Experts

·    Each event offers prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category

·    Come have some fun, everyone is welcome and supported!

·    Each week, additional awards will be given in specialty categories. These awards are also worth points and have been the difference between a first and a second place overall.

        The Golden Community Rodeo is a grass-roots effort that brings together whitewater enthusiasts, local residents and businesses, and industry representatives to participate in this community event. The GCR is organized, managed, and run exclusively by local volunteers whose common characteristic is the hope that all levels of boaters will feel welcomed at this event – from the meekest “newbie” to the local heroes. Our goal is to provide fun events where everyone is welcome, and everyone is supported.

      Each year this series has grown, with each event attended by 40+ paddlers and 50+ spectators. The original organizers worked hard to get the local community involved and have encouraged all paddlers to take ownership of this event by competing and working to plan and organize the event. The results are tremendous! We now have a supportive group of local boaters who are working hard to put together the logistics and gather prizes to offer to our competitors and spectators.

Event Details and Location

· Clear Creek Whitewater Park in Golden Colorado

· Registration: 4:30 pm

· Rodeo begins: 5:30 pm followed by an after party at a local restaurant

· Course is located at the west end of Tenth Street, adjacent to Lions Park in Golden. Link to google map.

· Parking is located at Lions Park, the ball fields and adjacent areas

· Run Description: Golden Play park

Pre-registration

· The only pre-registration is to be a member of Colorado Whitewater (covers insurance). Register at http://www.coloradowhitewater.org/ and print out your receipt to prepay (and pay by credit card).
